Before the Ballads: My Favorite RADWIMPS Rock Riffs

Radwimps has written some of the most heart-wrenching J-pop ballads and anime soundtracks of all time, but did you know they actually started off as a gritty, punk-centric rock band?

If you aren’t familiar with their harder side, definitely give these a listen. If you are, walk down nostalgia road with me (:

Here are my personal picks for Radwimp’s top five rock riffs.

5. Flies in May (Gogatsu no Hae)

Gore warning for the music video.

This is a very emotionally charged break-up song.

4. DADA

Buddhist chanting themed riff and a headbanger.

3. Hekkushun

This induces angst on levels I haven’t felt since I was 13 years old. Woo!

2. Jennifer Yamada-san

Actually from Radwimps’ “alter ego band” The Miso Soups. A great pop punk melody.

1. Oshakashama

Arguably one of the most recognizable riffs in J-rock history.

These are a mix of my suggestions and fan favorites, so let me know your favorites down below. ❤
